If you or a covered family member are in a life threatening health situation, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital.
The hospital will contact us through the toll-free number on your behavioral health benefit card, and a licensed professional staff member will assist you. In consultation with hospital staff, the Humana Behavioral Health care manager will authorize the appropriate level of care.
Depending on your behavioral health benefit plan, it may be necessary to transfer you to a facility in the Humana Behavioral Health network.
To obtain behavioral health benefit services for you or family members covered by your health plan, please contact the toll-free Customer Service number on the back of your behavioral health benefit card or call 1- 800-777-6330. Be sure to select the behavioral health option. An associate will work with you to select an appropriate mental health or substance abuse provider. They are independent contractors. Humana Behavioral Health is not a provider of medical services. Humana Behavioral Health does not endorse or control the clinical judgment or treatment recommendations made by the physicians or other providers listed in behavioral health network directories or otherwise selected by you.
To be covered, expenses must be medically necessary and specified as covered. Please see your behavioral health benefit plan document for more information on medical necessity and other specific behavioral health benefit plans or call the toll-free Customer Service number on the back of your card or call 1- 800-777-6330.
Members may be eligible to receive Case Management services if they have experienced multiple hospitalizations or have behavioral health needs that require frequent and ongoing assistance. Case Management is provided to members by Humana Behavioral Health clinicians specially trained in case management who are on hand to help make sure members’ needs are met and all efforts are made to improve and optimize their overall health and well-being. The case management program is optional.
